Midtown sewer repairs, Westside repaving projects set to impact traffic

A map showing the detours for the Midtown sewer work Courtesy Atlanta Watershed Management An crisis sewer repair in Midtown and a repaving project on the Westside are both set to begin in the current era Sept impacting traffic The sewer repair will force lane closures on both busy th Street from Peachtree Street to just east of Myrtle Street and Piedmont Avenue from th to Piedmont Ave Existing sewer mains will be removed and replaced to repair defects and increase the sewer system s quota according to a press release from City of Atlanta Watershed Management Intermittent lane closures will begin Monday with full lane closures around the clock starting on Wednesday Sept The work is scheduled to be completed mid to late October weather permitting Work will occur Monday through Saturday from a m to p m according to the press release The city noted residents and businesses in the work zone will maintain access to homes mail and package delivery exigency services and trash collection Alternative parking will be required for vehicles typically parked on the street However motorists are encouraged to exercise caution follow posted detours and avoid the area when workable Westbound journey lanes on th Street heading toward Peachtree will be reduced to one lane One eastbound progress lane on th Street will remain open to traffic except for one block between Juniper Street and Piedmont Avenue Eastbound traffic on th will be detoured at Juniper On the Westside the Atlanta Department of Transportation ATLDOT has informed the start of a major resurfacing project for Perry Boulevard and West Marietta Street The resurfacing will stretch from Hollywood Road to Marietta Boulevard according to a press release The multi-million-dollar infrastructure stake will begin Monday Sept with work scheduled during nighttime hours to reduce construction and traffic conflicts This resurfacing project has been a long time coming for our residents and commuters along Perry Boulevard and West Marietta Street Dist Councilman Dustin Hillis reported in a message The improvements will not only extend the life of this critical corridor but also improve the quality of life for everyone who lives along and travels these streets The project will include milling resurfacing and restriping of the roadways bringing them up to modern standards In addition to the evening and overnight work hours clear signage and traffic advisories will be in place throughout the construction period The post Midtown sewer repairs Westside repaving projects set to impact traffic appeared first on Rough Draft Atlanta
